Tithing

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity contributes 10% of unrestricted funding to Habitat affiliates around to world to help build affordable homes.

Milwaukee Habitat has contributed nearly $2 million to help build over 478 homes in countries like El Salvador, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand and Ghana. Tithing is a Christian principle that all Habitat affiliates participate in. Milwaukee Habitat is especially proud of its outstanding commitment to helping partner families in countries around the world become homeowners.

In 2008, Milwaukee Habitat staff and volunteers followed their tithe and visited La Palma, El Salvador to help build and meet some of the partner families to whom we have been contributing over the years. In 2009, staff and volunteers participated in the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Chiang Mai, Thailand to help build one of 84 homes. Tithing bridges the gap between the local housing needs and the poverty housing needs around the world.
