Green Initiatives

At Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity our mission is to provide affordable housing, which we believe is inextricably linked to the need to support safe, healthy communities and a sustainable environment. We continue to work as an advocate of the green building movement to benefit more than just our homeowners.

Green building is a crucial element in helping us reach our goals of providing affordable housing to families in need. Long term affordability is vital to the success of Habitat homeowners. The "green" aspects of our building practices reduce our impact on the environment, reduce home energy costs and increase the long-term affordability of our homes for our homeowners.

Energy Efficiency & Green Building

All of our new homes are Wisconsin Energy Star and Green Built Wisconsin certified. These homes exceed nationally accepted air-tightness and ventilation requirements by more than 30%. We are able to continually improve our energy efficiency measures thanks to the generous support of Focus on Energy.
