At Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity we strive to serve those who would not qualify for a mortgage through a traditional lending institution. Milwaukee Habitat sells the home at no profit, serves as the mortgage holder and provides a zero-interest mortgage to partner families. Monthly mortgage payments are between $475-$600 and include a portion for property insurance and real estate taxes. The principal portion of each payment is recycled back into our program to build homes for more low-income families.
We currently build new construction homes in Washington Park neighborhood of Milwaukee.

Sweat Equity
Our program utilizes a partnership model. Families admitted to the Habitat homeownership program complete a sweat equity requirement during which they participate in the construction of their homes and the homes of their neighbors. This component of the program provides partner families with the opportunity to learn construction skills, get to know their future neighbors and learn about Habitat for Humanity. Partner families must also attend educational workshops to fulfill the sweat equity requirement.
